Graduate students are eligible to apply for financial aid. Any questions on financial aid must be directed to the financial aid department. Typically financial aid for graduate students is in the form of loans. Students will need to complete the FAFSA application to be eligible.
Once you accept your admissions offer, you will be eligible to apply for on campus academic positions.
Open positions are posted through ASES. Check back frequently for new positions listed.
Many of our students are successful at securing employment as a TA or reader throughout the academic year to cover tuition and provide income.
The Global Health Program has a small amount of positions to hand out each quarter (they are assigned right before each quarter starts). We encourage our students to apply to relevant outside departments for employment as we cannot offer a position to all students in the cohort.
In addition to your salary, employment of at least 25% as a GSR, TA, or Reader will qualify students for a Tuition and Fee Remission.TA and Reader pay rates can be found here.
Graduate students who are appointed as Teaching Assistants or Reader at a minimum of 25% for the entire quarter, are eligible for payment of graduate student health insurance (GSHIP) and partial fee remission that covers Tuition (formerly the Education fee), the Student Services fee (formerly the Registration fee) and effective Fall 2023, 100% of campus-based fees. Nonresident Supplemental Tuition (formerly Nonresident Tuition) is not covered. The UC San Diego Global Health Program does not provide any fellowships to students.
The UC San Diego Graduate Division provides resources for finding fellowships for graduate students. More information is available on their financial support page.
Additionally, please review our global health specific fellowship and scholarship resources from outside organizations that students may apply for here.
Please visit the Student Veterans Resource Center for additional information.
