Academic Advising (Spring 2024)

VAC Message:

Global Health students may send questions through the Virtual Advising Center (VAC). *We strongly recommend seeking this option first as most inquiries we receive are quick questions.

Drop-In Advsing:

Virtual Drop-In Advising resumes on Thursdays from 10am-12pm beginning Week 1 of Winter 2024 via Zoom (access here).

  • Drop-In Advising is for quick questions only. If you have a more complex issue, please schedule a 30 minute appointment.

Scheduled Appointments:

  • Remote appointments:
    • We offer remote appointments via phone and Zoom Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. PST and Monday - Thursday 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. PST.
  • In-person Appointments:
    • We offer limited in-person appointments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. PST and 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. PST.
Please email ghpadvising@ucsd.edu to schedule an appointment. In the email please include the following:
  • Name, PID, Brief Description of what you'd like to discuss
  • 3 appointment times that work for you
  • Whether you prefer Zoom, In-person or Phone appointment (If phone, include the best number to reach you at)

 

2023-2024 Grading Option Policy Updates for Global Health Courses

Update June 14th, 2021: Starting Summer 2021 quarter and onward, the Global Health Program will return to our original grading policy. The GHP will only accept letter grades of C- or better toward Global Health major and minor requirements. See below:

  • For certain elective courses taken between Spring 2020 - Spring 2021: The Global Health Program will accept P/NP grading options toward certain courses in the Global Health major and minor courses for the 2020-21 Academic Year (Fall 2020, Winter 2021, and Spring 2021). Please click here for which courses are eligible toward requirements.
 

Who should I see?

Undergraduate academic advising at UC San Diego is shared by two sets of advisors - College and Major Advisors. Your college advisor will provide you with general academic support, assist you with questions that you may have regarding college general education requirements, university requirements, IGETC and TAG, writing courses, graduation, and policy questions. Your Global Health Major Academic Advisor is available to provide advice and answers to questions about the Undergraduate Program in Global Health.

  • Financial Aid Office -  Advise on financial aid packages and specific academic requirements to continue receiving aid.
  • Admissions Office - Handles and posts official transcripts, transfer agreements, and test scores completed outside of UC San Diego and verifies transferability of courses taken at other institutions back to UC San Diego
  • Registrar's Office - Handles official UC San Diego transcripts and schedule of classes at UC San Diego, Provides enrollment verification for students
  • International Students and Programs (ISPO) - Advises international students on visas, I-20s, and Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS)
